Theo S. – Ontario – Junior Data Analyst – December 2021 Graduate
Theo came to Canada hoping to find a safe place to build a life for himself. Theo had a Masters degree in Economics and was interested in pursuing a career in tech, but he didn’t have the financial means to pursue formal education here in Canada. That’s when he heard about NPower Canada.
With some base knowledge of Python and SQL, the Junior Data Analyst program was the perfect fit for Theo to get more hands-on-experience with tech and expand his knowledge of data analytics.
“NPower Canada provided me with many resources, including the classes which were designed to enhance participants’ technical skills. I had the opportunity to learn about Python, programming, and making insights out of data. Moreover, the NPower Canada team helped me with building a professional LinkedIn profile, tailoring my resume, and job hunting,” Theo shared.
After graduating from NPower Canada, Theo landed a role with Tundra Technical Solutions, working with Aviva Insurance, where he continues to work today. He has found that everything he learned in the program has helped him succeed in his first tech role and is eager to continue learning, in hopes of one day becoming a data scientist.
When asked what advice Theo would give others, here’s what he had to say:
“I learned that the key to any success is consistency and not giving up. Without a doubt, practice and commitment make a huge difference.”
