Asmin A. – Ontario– Junior IT Analyst – 2019
When Asmin arrived in Canada with a master’s degree in computer technology, she faced the challenge of adapting to a new work culture while caring for her 9-month-old daughter. Despite her qualifications, breaking into the Canadian IT industry felt overwhelming.
Determined to grow professionally, Asmin applied to NPower Canada’s Junior IT Analyst program in 2019. Her goal was clear: to upgrade her skills in networking and learn how to market herself effectively in a competitive job market.
Throughout the program, Asmin found immense value in the mock interviews and networking sessions. These experiences not only helped her identify areas for improvement but also opened doors to meaningful connections in the IT field. The guidance she received on building a strong LinkedIn profile and the inspiration from guest speakers helped her gain confidence and visibility.
After graduating, Asmin secured a 3-month internship as an IT Analyst with the City of Toronto. With continued support from NPower Canada’s alumni services, she earned her Python certification and soon landed a role at Deloitte, an opportunity made possible through NPower Canada’s job search assistance and employer partnerships.
Today, Asmin has progressed from an entry-level support role to a senior IT support position. Her journey is a testament to resilience, continuous learning, and the power of community support.
