Dona – Quebec – Junior IT Analyst – 2023 Graduate
Before joining NPower Canada, Dona spent more than twenty years working in Quebec’s social and healthcare sectors. With a background in social intervention and criminology, she built a career supporting vulnerable communities and later specialized in mental health services. While her professional path focused on helping others, technology had always been a personal passion running alongside her work.
Curious and driven, Dona spent years exploring the tech world on her own. She attended technology events across Montreal, took part in innovation challenges, and studied interactive media at L’Institut national de l’image et du son. Through online learning and hands-on experimentation, she steadily built her technical knowledge. Yet despite her dedication, she faced a key barrier: the lack of concrete professional experience in IT made it difficult to translate her skills into a technology career.
Determined not to give up, Dona continued searching for a path that would allow her to turn her passion into a career. That opportunity came when she discovered a Google professional certificate program delivered through NPower Canada. After several years in the healthcare sector, she realized there was little room for advancement and wanted to build a career with greater long-term potential. She applied to the program and, after waiting for the next cohort, joined ready to fully commit to her transition into tech.
The experience proved transformative. Through intensive technical training, collaborative projects, and career preparation workshops, Dona gained both practical skills and renewed confidence. The supportive environment, alongside peers from diverse backgrounds, helped her strengthen not only her technical abilities but also her belief in what she could achieve.
Today, Dona works as a Business Architecture Analyst at Accenture. She remains connected to the NPower Canada alumni community across Canada and continues to grow her career in technology.
