Essential Services

Food Banks Alberta is the provincial association of food banks in Alberta that offers several programs and services in conjunction with other provincial organizations.
Alberta Food Banks’ mission is to advance the vital role, capacity and voice of Alberta’s food banks through advocacy, educational and networking opportunities and exceptional member services.
Alberta Farm to Food Bank was created to help Alberta food banks, soup kitchens, women shelters, churches and food charities find a better way to acquire healthy, locally grown meat and vegetables and to help support local Alberta farms.

Finances

Financial assistance for unexpected emergencies is available through the Emergency Needs Allowance.
Helping you find and apply for family and social supports.
Support for individuals and families to pay for basic expenses like food, clothing and shelter.
Money Mentors help Albertans get out of debt, manage their money, and plan for retirement. They promote financial health throughout the province and invest in Alberta’s youth.

Indigenous Youth Services

Opokaa’sin Early Intervention Society’s mission has been to nurture and support the strengths and resilience of Indigenous families, children, and youth.
Miskanawah (mis-con-a-wah, meaning “Pathways” in Cree) is a multi-service organization, offering programs for children, youth, families, and communities.

Well-being

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is Canada’s first and largest province-wide, fully integrated health system, responsible for delivering health services to nearly 4.4 million people living in Alberta, as well as to some residents of Saskatchewan, B.C. and the Northwest Territories.

The Mental Health Foundation was founded in 1998 and since its inception, the Foundation has been working to be a catalyst that affects positive change in the area of addiction and mental health.

General Educational Development Alberta

Over 30 NorQuest programs offer work-integrated learning, providing students with hands-on experience outside the classroom.

The Alberta government provides information on the General Educational Development (GED), including eligibility and where you can write the tests.

Find everything you need to earn a high school equivalency diploma through the GED® test, which is made up of 5 subjects, broken into separate exams.

General Educational Development for Indigenous Community

SCcyber E-Learning Community offers Indigenous students flexible, and quality online courses in a culturally supportive environment. SCcyber E-Learning Community is an accredited school that offers a complete grade 7 – 12 Alberta curriculum to Indigenous adult students (over the age of 19).
