In May, we celebrated the achievements of our graduates from across Canada during a national graduation ceremony. 583 graduates completed the 15-weeks of training and earned their certifications. Amongst them, our very first Google UX Design graduates!
Working closely with our industry partners, NPower Canada assessed that there was a growing demand for UX Designers in Canada. As the pandemic forced more companies online, we have seen an increased demand for tech talent that can create accessible products and tools. We set our eyes on launching our first ever UX Design program, leveraging our partnership with Google.org to offer our participants the ability to obtain the Google UX Design Professional Certification.
We launched the Google UX Design Program, designed in collaboration with industry leader Google in Ontario in January 2022. 51 participants embarked on a 15-week journey to learn the foundations of user experience, build wireframes and prototypes, conduct UX research, and learn about web design, while also developing their personal and professional skills.
During the program, Madeleine Smickilas, a Product Designer at Benevity, volunteered her time to speak to our UX Design participants [see below]. She provided participants with invaluable advice on how to tailor their resume, cover letter and portfolio when applying for UX Design positions.
We are extremely proud of our pilot Google UX Design program; 98% successfully completed the program and earned their Google UX Design Professional Certification. Thanks to this success and our ongoing partnership with Google.org, we now offer the Google UX Design program in Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta.
