Animesh – Service Analyst Program – Ontario – March 2018 Graduate
In June 2017, Animesh moved to Canada. He had a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering. However, having this education on his resume wasn’t enough to help him launch his career in Canada. Without any Canadian education or work experience, Animesh couldn’t find a job.
After being referred to NPower Canada from COSTI Immigrant Services, Animesh was excited to begin a tech training program that would help him begin his career in Canada. Animesh quickly learned that tech skills were not all NPower Canada’s program had to offer. He appreciated the “different networking events which helped [him] develop [his] professional network in Canada.” Animesh was able to meet individuals from Canada’s top employers and form important connections.
After graduating from NPower Canada’s program in 2018, Animesh began his career with RBC. His initial role was as a Technical Services Analyst, a 3-month co-op. Animesh worked hard and quickly proved himself, and RBC offered him a full-time role as soon as his co-op was finished. He was promoted to a Senior Technical Security Analyst within two years.
Animesh said that, “even though the NPower Canada program was a core IT program, it focused on developing soft skills for personal and professional development. These soft skills helped me to grow as an individual and assisted me on my career growth over time. In the modern-day world, soft skills such as collaboration and people skills alongside technical skills are a must to succeed.”
He attributes these skills to why he was able to climb up the career ladder at RBC and work his way up to his current role as a Manager. When asked what he would say to others considering NPower Canada programs, here’s what Animesh had to say:
“In one word, NPower Canada programs are life-changing for a lot of youth, including myself. I highly recommend NPower Canada’s programs to anyone who is looking to start their professional career. These programs not only allow you to learn the newest technical skills, but also assist in sharpening soft skills which are equally important.”
