Kate O. – Manitoba – Junior IT Analyst – 2024
Kate’s journey in NPower Canada’s Junior IT Analyst program left her feeling a “blend of joy, nostalgia and anticipation for the future.” As a recent graduate, she spoke as a representative of her province, Manitoba, at our national graduation ceremony that took place in July 2024.
Before joining NPower Canada, Kate worked as a Banker & Electronic Data Officer. While Kate was grateful for the experience, she expressed “a deep interest in technology and aspired to transition into the tech industry”. Kate’s transition was not without challenges, as she lacked a formal education in the tech field and the job market felt daunting without the necessary technical skills.
Kate learned about NPower Canada through an online search on Google and applied immediately. She said, “The program’s commitment to providing comprehensive tech training and robust job placement support drew me in. I was excited to join a community that shared my passion for technology and was dedicated to helping individuals overcome career barriers.”
Kate described her time in the program as “incredibly enriching”. She recalled, “I enjoyed the hands-on training and practical experience with real-world projects, Scrum group meetings and the supportive environment.” She continued, “The community fostered by the instructors and my fellow participants was instrumental in keeping me motivated and determined to succeed.”
An aspect of the program Kate was surprised by was the emphasis on personal development. “Beyond technical skills, NPower Canada highlighted the importance of soft skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving,” said Kate. She expressed her enjoyment for the ability to practice mock interviews and the feedback she got in return. Kate went on, “These skills have been invaluable in preparing me for the job market.”
When Kate passed the Google IT Support Professional certification, she felt proud of this milestone. “It validated my hard work and perseverance. The program not only provided me with essential technical skills but also extensive job search support, from resume tailoring to interview preparation. This guidance was crucial in building my confidence and readiness to enter the tech industry.”
Kate learned that determination, perseverance and positivity are key traits for success, not only in the Junior IT Analyst program, but also in the real world. Kate credits NPower Canada for instilling these values, which “helped her remain focused and resilient, even through times of difficulty.”
After Kate completed her certification, she was happy to report that her job opportunities opened up. She shared, “I have gotten many interviews for Technical Support Roles. These opportunities align perfectly with my career goals, and I am excited and enthusiastic about the future.”
When Kate reflected back on her journey, she saw how her outlook changed compared to before she joined NPower Canada. She transformed into a more confident, skilled, and optimistic person about her career prospects.
When asked to share a burst of inspiration for anyone considering NPower Canada, this is what Kate had to say:
“NPower Canada truly provides the support and tools needed to succeed. I want to leave you with this final thought: “Let’s not just dream about the future; let’s be the architects framing it ourselves. May we always remember where we came from and who we are as we go forth. To my fellow graduates, congratulations! Our adventure begins now.””
