Mercury V. – Nova Scotia – Junior IT Analyst –  2024

Mercury is an NPower Canada graduate who spoke at our 2024 national graduation ceremony as a representative of Nova Scotia.

Originally from the Philippines with a background in engineering, Mercury found a home in Canada where she worked as a project manager at a tech company. She experienced a loss of work and started looking for her next role. During her job search, Mercury said, “I stumbled upon a post regarding NPower Canada’s educational programs on LinkedIn…I did not hesitate and signed up straight away.”

Mercury began the Junior IT Analyst program and described her first impression of the program. “At first I was intimidated by the attendance protocols and punctuality expectations. NPower Canada NPower Canada gave me valuable lessons in responsibility, accountability, and creating a productive schedule.” Mercury continued, “The course was well-designed, providing us with a well-balanced blend of technical, personal, and professional developmental abilities.”

Mercury recalled the parts of NPower Canada’s program that stood out to her. “The overall intensity of this course was what distinguished it from other training programs. I drew inspiration from the motivation of the staff and my classmates to progress through each week.”

NPower Canada also showed Mercury how to persevere, especially during challenging times. She credited her peers who reminded her that she was not alone. The community that was formed played a large role in Mercury gaining the confidence to write impactful job applications to land meaningful work. She said, “I am armored with the right tools and support… I believe the perfect job is just around the corner.”

After completing the Junior IT Analyst program, Mercury secured a permanent position at E.H. Price as an Engineering Sales Representative, and has been happily settling into her new role.
