Blessing O. – Alberta – Junior IT Analyst – September 2021 Graduate
Blessing came to Canada in 2015 in hopes of a better education. She pursued a degree in Sociology and Psychology at the University of Saskatchewan. With a degree under her belt, Blessing was looking forward to starting her career and obtaining her permanent residency card.
Yet, Blessing struggled to fulfill those dreams. The stress of “applying to so many jobs and getting no call back from any of them” started to take its toll on her, not to mention the financial burden that she was under. She had no family in Canada and felt alone and defeated. That’s when her friend sent her a link to NPower Canada.
Blessing had been taking some Data Analysis courses on LinkedIn and was already fascinated by IT; NPower Canada’s program seemed like a great fit. After joining the program, she became less worried about her career prospects – “I knew I had the support I needed from the NPower Canada team,” she said. Blessing appreciated the personal development sessions which taught her about self love and self care, so important as prior to joining the program, she felt “depressed from feeling like a failure.”
When Blessing graduated from the program, she landed a role with TD. She had always wanted to work in a bank and this first job felt like a stepping stone to her dream career. When asked what advice she would give to someone in a similar position to her before joining the program, Blessing had this to say, “Put in the work and you will see amazing results in every aspect of your life.”
