With five children to take care of, Sophie did not have the financial means to pursue traditional higher education. She was working a regular hourly job, but was eager to upskill to pursue a more meaningful career.
“I’m a mother of five, unable to go to school due to financial barriers. I was searching online for tech programs, and came across an ad for NPower Canada,” shared Sophie. “I applied immediately without hesitation.”
Sophie could hardly believe her luck: a program that would equip her with in-demand tech skills, and help her develop professionally and personally in just three months – and all for free!
During the program, Sophie was laid off from her current position. Sophie was happy that she had already taken the first step towards a new career and was hopeful she would find employment soon. Two weeks before completing our Junior IT Analyst program, Sophie secured a role as an IT Analyst with Deloitte, one of the Big Four companies – what she describes as her dream job.
“The NPower Canada program has transformed my life. After two months in the program, I found out I was being laid off. With the support of NPower Canada, they referred me to a Big 4 company where I obtained full-time employment with a higher salary,” said Sophie.
Sophie invested in herself, and as a result, was able to find a job that she thoroughly enjoys and provide a better future for her family.
