Accenture Canada recently hit their 100th hire with NPower Canada!
What we do at NPower Canada is made possible by supportive employer partners who recognize the talent of our graduates and provide employment opportunities. These employers are committed to employing a diverse workforce and have tapped into non-traditional hiring pipelines, like NPower Canada.
“I always say it takes a village to work towards a more equitable and inclusive tech industry, and we are grateful for Accenture’s continued support over the years. They believe in our mission, our staff, and most of all, our incredible participants, and are helping them start exciting careers within their organization,” said Julia Blackburn, CEO, NPower Canada.
Accenture Canada has been a funder and employer partner since our inception. Our board chair, Stephen Gardiner, is the Senior Managing Director of Strategy and Digital Transformation at Accenture Canada. Since 2014, Stephen has been a champion of NPower Canada’s programs, providing valuable insight into in-demand skills and digital trends to ensure we are preparing our participants for success. Stephen has been an integral part of our board and has championed our partnership with Accenture Canada over the years.
“We have experienced firsthand the contributions these graduates can make to an organization and we’re so proud to have reached this milestone together with NPower Canada. This partnership helps us reach untapped talent pools and provide greater access to digital economy jobs, helping young adults from underserved communities kickstart and grow their careers,” said Stephen Gardiner, Senior Managing Director of Strategy and Digital Transformation, Accenture Canada.
Filsan Kulane was Accenture’s 100th hire. Filsan joined our program in 2016, when she was no longer able to afford post-secondary education. She had been working a survival job to make ends meet, but was motivated to find a more meaningful career. Without a background in tech, she worked hard to complete the program. Filsan landed her first tech role as an intern at RBC, and shortly after landed a full-time position with them.
In 2019, Filsan was nominated and selected to chair NPower Canada’s Youth Advisory Council. Our Advisory Council provides insights, direction, and input into our program design, development, and evaluation. Filsan served for two years as the chair and was an inspiring leader, demonstrating how much she had grown since joining our program in 2016. As the Advisory Council Chair, Filsan was also appointed as a full voting member of our Board of Directors to continue giving back to the organization that helped her get her start.
Over the years, Filsan gained multiple promotions at RBC. In September 2022, Filsan was hired at Accenture Canada as a Program & Project Management Specialist, marking their 100th hire. We could not think of a better candidate to represent their 100th hire and are confident she will add a great deal of value to the organization.
“I am so thankful to NPower Canada for helping me launch my career in tech. Their support over the years has given me confidence as I have progressed throughout my career, and I am so excited for this new chapter with Accenture. Knowing there are so many NPower Canada graduates who have found success with Accenture Canada, I am eager to take my career to new heights here,” said Filsan.
Accenture Canada’s first NPower Canada hire was in 2015, and over the years they have hired many incredible NPower Canada alumni from Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario. Typically, our graduates secure a role as part of Accenture Canada’s Apprenticeship Program, and 84% of apprentices are then offered full-time positions, in roles such as Project Manager, Sr Analyst, Technical Architect, Manger, and Cloud Engineer.
Our partnership has provided Accenture with a direct talent pipeline and enabled 100 NPower Canada graduates to launch their careers in tech and find meaningful employment with one of Canada’s top employers.
“Our Accenture Recruiting team truly values our long-standing partnership with NPower Canada and watching how it has grown over the years. Reaching 100 hires is a huge milestone for us and an integral part of our talent strategy to close the technology skills gap in Canada,” shared Rosie Given, Inclusion & Diversity Recruiting Lead for Canada, Accenture.
We are excited to follow Filsan’s journey with Accenture Canada, and to continue our strong partnership to help more people like her progress in their career journey. We are thankful for Accenture Canada’s ongoing support and hitting this incredible milestone.
