Hina – Junior IT Analyst & Google Project Management – Ontario – January 2020 Graduate
Hina arrived in Canada in March 2019. She applied for web development and IT Analyst roles, but was unsuccessful in landing an interview. She needed more hands-on practice and Canadian experience. She recalls, “being a new immigrant I faced a lot of problems getting employed back then.”
That’s when Hina learned about NPower Canada from a friend and enrolled in our Junior IT Analyst program. The program helped her better understand the Canadian workforce and refresh her IT skills. Shortly after finishing the program, Hina was hired as a Project Coordinator.
When her contract ended she welcomed her first child. When her maternity leave ended in October 2021, she wanted to get back to her career and pursued our Google Project Management alumni program. “It was the perfect match for my career goals,” Hina said.
The alumni program enabled Hina to upskill and add another certification to her resume. She said that as soon as she completed the program and added it to her LinkedIn, “recruiters started contacting me for Project Management positions.” Everything she had learned was relevant to the field and she was hired as a Project Manager with Taos (An IBM Company/Branch).
