Josie W. – Nova Scotia – Junior IT Analyst – 2023 Graduate
Prior to joining NPower Canada, Josie only had experience working in the restaurant industry. During the pandemic, it was difficult for Josie to find any work at all. As a single mother, being underemployed forced Josie to rely on support from Nova Scotia Works. She knew it was time to pivot and find a more meaningful career.
Josie had always had a passion for tech, and heard about NPower Canada through her social worker. “I joined the program with the hope that not only would I gain valuable knowledge and meet new faces, but also prove to myself that I was able to overcome challenging situations.”
Josie found the program interesting, and felt supported and motivated by NPower Canada staff and her peers throughout the program. “Obtaining the Google IT Certificate has been the highlight of my whole year,” Josie shared.
Now, Josie has found full-time employment with Eastlink, one of NPower Canada’s employer partners, as a Customer Service Representative.
“Being employed with Eastlink has allowed a financial weight to be lifted off my shoulders. I enjoy every work day being able to assist customers with their needs and concerns. I am confident that nothing can stand in my way of success as long as I remember all the helpful resources, tools, and tips that NPower Canada provided.”
