Maha M. -Ontario – Junior IT Analyst – September 2022 Graduate
Like many newcomers, Maha had big hopes for her career when she came to Canada. Yet, even with a polished resume, Maha couldn’t find stable and secure employment in Toronto. It felt like there was nothing she could do that would be enough for employers. “I did not know what to do, and always got so overwhelmed,” she shared.
When Maha discovered NPower Canada, she was hesitant about how much it could help her kickstart a career in tech. She thought the entry-level Junior IT Analyst program they offered would help her gain basic technical skills, but assumed she would have to look elsewhere to help her become job-ready. After enrolling in NPower Canada’s program in summer 2022, Maha quickly realized she had been wrong.
“As I progressed through the program I realized that it was not just limited to basic technical know-how. NPower Canada offers professional and personal coaching to develop career ready skills, which usually would cost a lot of money. I am grateful to NPower Canada for providing this level of training free of cost,” Maha shared.
Maha also participated in NPower Canada’s 1:1 Mentorship program, where she was paired with an expert in the tech industry who was able to share their knowledge and expertise with her. “The mentor I have is extremely helpful and truly an inspiration,” Maha said.
Now, Maha feels confident in herself and her future career prospects. Already, thanks to NPower Canada’s employment placement support, she has secured her first tech role with the City of Toronto as an IT Trainee. Maha feels fortunate to have been part of the program and encourages others to enroll as well:
“If you trust the process and the program, I promise you, NPower Canada will help you open the doors you always wanted to open.”
