Oladotun O. – Manitoba – Junior IT Analyst – 2023 Graduate
Oladotun, a newcomer to Canada with a background in business, faced barriers to employment in Canada.“Most companies and recruiters wanted applicants with experience in Canada,” stated Oladotun.
When a friend told him about NPower Canada and its tech programs, Oladotun saw the opportunity to improve his skills in business analysis, which would increase his chances of securing employment, motivating him to apply. Throughout his time in the Junior IT Analyst program, he gained more confidence in his technical skills.
“[The program was] very helpful in acquiring knowledge in computer networking and operating systems,” Oladotun reflected. “I have found the career development programs and seminars helpful,” he continued. NPower Canada provided Oladotun with a clearer understanding of the kind of roles he was equipped to succeed in, allowing him to better envision the trajectory of his career path.
Soon after his completion of the Junior IT Analyst program, Oladotun secured a position at Valley Fibre as a Network Installation Technician.
Oladotun’s words of advice for future participants of NPower Canada’s programs was straightforward:
“Learn as much as you can. Practice with the take home assignments. Be open to learn more from other participants who may know more. Interact, collaborate and network both in and out of class.”
Oladotun’s journey in the technology industry is a testament to his hard work and determination to expand his skills and find success in the Canadian job market.
