Before enrolling in NPower Canada’s Junior IT Analyst (JITA) program, I struggled to find work in a challenging job market. Living with depression, anxiety, and autism made it difficult to maintain long-term employment; furthermore, getting by on welfare with only a high school diploma proved to be a significant struggle.
I have always had a passion for IT, often helping family members troubleshoot technical issues. I initially enrolled in the JITA program in 2023 but dropped out after the first day due to a miscommunication. Refusing to give up, I re-enrolled in 2025.
Through the program, I earned my Google IT Support and AI Essentials certifications. I also gained proficiency in Cisco Packet Tracer, PowerShell, and Windows/Linux operating systems—technical skills I had no prior experience with before joining NPower Canada. Additionally, I participated in weekly workshops focused on resumes, cover letters, and interviewing, which significantly boosted my confidence during the pre-employment stage.
After graduating in March 2026, I joined QueerTech’s Access program to pursue further Google certifications. I also recently graduated from a programming course with ComIT, where I developed several Python and Django projects.
My Advice for Prospective Students:
Be cautious of the critiques you hear online. NPower Canada has changed my life for the better and made me a much more confident person. The staff are incredibly friendly and dedicated to supporting your journey, and your classmates will be some of the most supportive people you’ll ever meet.
I am receiving more interview offers with the resume they helped me build than ever before. I now have a dozen Google certificates on my LinkedIn that I completed through this course. The program requires a lot of hard work over three months, but they will be some of the most rewarding and life-changing months of your life.
