Graduate Success Story – Alejandro C.

Alejandro C. – British Columbia – Junior IT Analyst – 2023 Graduate

Before joining NPower Canada, Alejandro was on a journey of self-discovery. With a background in clinical counseling, he was deeply committed to helping others, particularly those navigating mental health challenges. While he had held a few technical roles, Alejandro felt most fulfilled when his work allowed him to give back in meaningful ways. At the same time, he faced barriers to securing stable employment in the tech sector, including prejudice related to his communication style and the absence of a formal academic background. Rather than letting rejection discourage him, Alejandro viewed each challenge as an opportunity to learn and grow.

Seeking stability, purpose, and a solid foundation in technology, Alejandro applied to NPower Canada’s Junior IT Analyst Program after discovering it on social media. At a time marked by significant personal change and uncertainty, the program offered exactly what he was looking for: structure, hands-on learning, and a chance to explore whether a long-term career in tech was the right path.

During the program, Alejandro found the virtual learning environment both accessible and engaging. He appreciated the balanced schedule, which allowed him to absorb new material while continuing to pursue personal goals. The supportive culture stood out most. From the kindness of his peers to the engaging teaching style of his instructor, Bashir, Alejandro felt encouraged to grow and participate fully. These relationships and learning experiences made the program especially impactful.

Through NPower Canada, Alejandro built a strong technical foundation in computer hardware, system administration, coding, networking, and cybersecurity. Starting with little formal tech knowledge, he gained the skills, confidence, and certifications, including Google Coursera credentials, that strengthened his resume and clarified his career direction. Beyond technical skills, the program gave him a renewed sense of pride and purpose.

After graduating in February 2023, Alejandro secured his first post-program role with Long View Systems as a Junior IT Technician, working remotely from Vancouver for the Calgary-based company. He discovered the opportunity through NPower Canada’s LinkedIn alumni community. In this role, he supported Tier 1 system administration, working with platforms such as Active Directory, Office 365, Azure/Entra, SharePoint, VPNs, and ServiceNow. Each day presented new challenges, reinforcing his technical skills and adaptability in a fast-paced IT environment.

Since completing the program, Alejandro’s journey has continued to evolve. Drawing on both his counseling background and technical expertise, he now serves as the Founder and CEO of Tech In A Tux Inc., a pay-what-you-can tech support and digital services business dedicated to accessibility and trust. What began as a simple idea has grown into a venture that has supported more than 3,500 clients while maintaining a five-star rating across platforms. His work has earned recognition from organizations such as Consumer Choice Award, Top 100 Magazine, DesignRush, and The Best Vancouver.

For Alejandro, success is about more than technology. It is about creating human-centered solutions, meeting people where they are, and removing barriers to essential services. The foundation he built through NPower Canada played a key role in helping him transform that vision into reality.

Reflecting on his experience, Alejandro encourages anyone considering NPower Canada to take the leap. “You have nothing to lose and so much to gain,” he says. “The program gives you the foundation, the community, and the confidence to move forward.”

Alejandro’s story is a powerful example of how access to opportunity, combined with resilience and purpose, can lead to lasting personal and professional transformation.
